Difference between Star Rating and Diamond Rating
|
 |
Star and Diamond ratings are used to indicate the quality of accomodation in England. Star ratings
are used to rate hotels that have a restaurant and Diamond ratings are used used to rate accomodation
that does not have a restaurant such as smaller hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses. This does not mean that
Star rated hotels are better than Diamond rated hotels. However, star rated hotels tend to have more
facilities than diamond rated hotels. Hotels with 1 or 2 stars or 1 or 2 diamonds are fairly basic. When
hotels are very cheap compared with other hotels in the same area and do not advertise a star or diamond
rating be careful - the quality of the accomodation may be too poor to be get any ratings. The English
Tourist Board, the AA and the RAC team up and inspect and rate the quality of hotels annually. The
following definitions of star and diamond rating levels is given by persented by the British Tourist
Authority.
